The genus Goniopora has long been a difficult challenge to the marine aquarist. Only handfuls of individuals have had success. The Goniopora frags grown at Fin and Feather of Groton, who were the first business to sell captive cultured Goniopora of multiple varieties. Justin Credabel has helped many people keep a dozen varieties of Goniopora, thereby assisting the establishment of several captive cultured lines. The captive grown offspring of other kinds of coral all proved to be hardier than their wild caught kin. The same is true for captive cultured Goniopora.
