Applied Sustainable Aquaculture is conducting a feasibility study at the Rankin Lab at UCONN's Avery Point Campus using Long Island Sound water filtered though macro-algae for growing coral and producing reef grade saltwater for use in marine aquariums. The project will demonstrate a way to clean LIS water's of nitrogen, phosphates and heavy metals, while producing useful and marketable products. This project was made possible by a grant from Connecticut Sea Grant.
